In light the COVID-19 situation, Gov. Tony Evers’ “Safer At Home” executive order, and the on-off-on election whipsaw of the last 24 hours, the below info will provide clarity. In addition to many local races, there is an important Wisconsin Supreme Court election.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS
- If you have one, return your ballot to your polling place before 8 p.m. tonight OR make sure your absentee ballot is postmarked today or it will not be counted.
- If you have not yet requested an absentee ballot, or you requested an absentee ballot but have not received it yet, you need to go to your polling place to vote.
- If you already voted absentee, your vote will be counted unless it was not witnessed. In which case, you need to go to your polling location.
- You cannot get an absentee ballot emailed to you.
GOING TO THE POLLS
- If you have not registered, you can do so at the polls.
- Know where to go. Some polling places have changed due to COVID-19. Check your polling location at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/FindMyPollingPlace.
- Photo-ID is the law. Bring a Wisconsin driver’s license, U.S. Passport or other valid form of identification.
SOCIAL DISTANCING REMINDERS AT THE POLLS
- Maintain at least six feet from poll workers and other voters.
- Wear gloves and a mask if you have them.
- Bring your own black pen.
- Listen to the instructions of the poll workers who are trying to keep you safe with their limited resources.
- Plan ahead, some polling locations are experiences longer waits than usual.
- Wash or sanitize your hands before and after voting.
