ABC of Wisconsin has a close relationship with Rawhide Boys Ranch and believes strongly in its mission to help at-risk youth in Wisconsin with a full continuum of faith-based, programs and services. Rawhide was the brainchild of John and Jan Gillespie and was co-founded with the assistance of NFL Hall of Fame Legend Bart Starr and his wife, Cherry. Rawhide has redirected the lives of thousands of troubled individuals from around Wisconsin who go on to lead healthy and responsible lives.
Located in New London, Wisconsin, Rawhide has several residential facilities based on a family living model, which allows for 24 hour role modeling for eight to ten boys at a time. Each home is staffed with live in house parents and resident youth care workers to provide a positive, supportive family environment.
In 1999, ABC of Wisconsin and its member volunteers donated time, materials and money to build an 11,000 square foot residence on the Rawhide campus. This includes general, concrete, electrical, roofing, plumbing, painting, sitework, and many other specialty trades. At the time, the “ABC Home” was valued at approximately $1 million. ABC of Wisconsin and its members continue to provide Rawhide with support on a regular basis.
