The beautiful, but durable 3,000 square-foot White Mound County Park office building was completed ahead of schedule and under budget by Friede & Associates, despite extensive sitework and massive amounts of rain. Originally bid in 2017, the bids all came in more than double what the county had funded for the project. Friede helped value-engineer the original contractor’s plan to significantly reduce the project cost and came in as low bidder. The client wanted a low-maintenance facility, so a metal roof and steel siding were central to the plan. The modern lines of the exterior were inspired by both the landscape of the park and the nearby utilitarian farm buildings. The multi-use building is set into the slope of a hill to shield it from northwest winds.
