UW-Stevens Point – Welcome Center Renovation

Ellis Construction renovated a former campus worship space into an 8,150-square-foot gathering and send-off location for student and family tours at UW-Stevens Point. The Tour Launch room is designed for large groups, featuring vaulted ceilings, soffit-mounted 100-inch projection screen and a student-designed Word Wall. A new reception area is the main focus at the main entrance with its interactive touch screen which shows feature stories, FAQs and social media. The ceramic tile floor has an inlay of the college logo under a skylight and the reception desk features lighted strips of the purple and gold UWSP colors. The contractor dealt with a rotted roof and significant water damage inside a major wall. Most of the building needed to be gutted and many load-bearing walls were replaced. The project required creative design solutions and tight budget management.
