The Highline Senior Apartments

The Highline is a new four-story, 160-unit, 55-plus affordable apartment building on a busy thoroughfare in Fitchburg. Prior to construction, the Stevens Construction Corp. project team set and surpassed goals for Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) requirements. Amenities include a fitness room, community room with demonstration kitchen, screened patio, in-unit washer/dryer and storage and underground parking. By establishing cost savings with subcontracts early on, the owner was able to redirect some money to finish upgrades, solar panel system, electric car chargers and an upgraded garage door. The project, which included more than a quarter mile of concrete foundation walls, was completed about a month early without sacrificing quality; an impressive feat during the pandemic. A 110,000-gallon water detention system uses five metal pipes, 60 feet long and 8 feet in diameter, for the buildings’ storm water discharge.
