Redd’s Piano Bar

The Friede team returned to the Kalahari Resort & Convention Center in 2021 to renovate the 6,900-square-foot Double Cut Charcoal Grill & Liquor Bar, a contemporary restaurant. The Kalahari Development team also turned to Friede to create Redd’s Piano Bar and Lounge, based on a similar facility at its new Round Rock, Texas resort. Completing the Kalahari project was like running an obstacle course for the Friede team. The owner wanted the renovated restaurant and new piano bar open before the Christmas season. The race to meet the mid-December 2021 deadline started after Labor Day with the usual challenges of most hospitality projects, along with some supply chain delays and the pandemic. The nearby kitchen needed to remain open to serve the convention center and the owner wanted to limit inconveniences for guests. Besides creating the new piano bar, plans called for the demolition of the existing bar, removal of the flooring, and relocation of a number of walls. The Friede team created a new bar area in both Redd’s and Double Cut as part of the renovation.
