Nu-Tek BioSciences

NuTek Biosciences was a design-build, ground-up industrial construction project that took place in Austin, MN. The 56,258-square-foot building sits on what was an empty farm field. With $26 million in construction costs contracted to WDS Construction in a GMP contract with the owner. Moreover, NuTek, the client, entered into a direct contract with Dahmes Stainless for both process engineering and installation. WDS managed the coordination of these activities in conjunction with the construction of the building structure and finishes. WDS provided on-site project management, and zero percent of the work was self-performed, all being subcontracted out. Out of the work that was subcontracted, four of the contractors are ABC members. All but four of the 35 subcontractors contributing to the project are native to Minnesota. Local and state participation was not required, but highly regarded due to some of the funding for the project coming from local governmental agencies.
