Kalahari Conference Center Expansion

This 22-month project doubled the size of the Kalahari Convention Center, one of the largest convention centers in the Midwest. It added 112,000 square feet of convention space including a 52,000 square foot ballroom and 10 meeting rooms and 2,000 parking spaces, all while keeping the resort operating as normal. Friede also added to and remodeled the convention center kitchen and added additional truck docks to the facility. Sitework for the project began with mass excavation and relocation of more than three quarters of a million cubic yards of fill. The project incorporated 6,400 sheets of drywall; 3,800 gallons of paint; 2.25 million pounds of structural steel, joists, decking & rebar; 55 miles of steel studs and track; and 93.3 miles of copper electrical wire.
