Derrick Building Solutions expanded Jerry’s Towing in Roberts with a three-story, 7,700-square-foot, pre-engineered steel service building with a 1,500-square-foot basement level. The addition connected to a 16,500-square-foot conventional steel and pre-cast block building. A new sales showroom, dispatch, parts, service, conference and training rooms were included. The project team faced sub-par soils and snow and ice challenges, so heat blankets were used to prep the ground for digging. There were high levels of truck traffic requiring constant communication with the client and weekly meetings between the owner, contractor and architect to accommodate numerous changes to room orientation and finishes for optimal function. The contractor was able to complete the work by the end of July, which was over a month earlier than originally scheduled.
