About the Project

Faith Technologies was chosen by Children’s Wisconsin and The Boldt Company to replace four emergency power generation units; two in the hospital’s Center Tower and two in the East Tower, all of which were nearing the end of their useful life. The project also required an eye to ensure necessary back-up power for future campus expansion. Faith designed a plan to provide improved power generation at a new, centralized generator plant near the hospital but away from patient care and public areas. Extensive modeling was used to determine the best path from the new site to the hospital campus, approximately two blocks away. Faith engineered a route that ran through existing utility lines under a campus road, with individual excavations completed quickly to limit traffic disruption. Precise coordination of power outages to cutover from the old to the new generators was critical to ensure that patient care was never compromised. Faith’s electrical engineering expertise, healthcare construction experience and vast knowledge of Children’s facilities enabled its team to ensure that each required outage was completed precisely and safely.
