Community-Based Organization Connections & Job Centers

ABC works hard to build relationships with a variety of community-based organizations and job centers, and ideally – we want to connect those job seekers with our members.

Below, please find information on the different groups ABC has connection with.  If you would like specific email introductions with any of these groups, contact Elizabeth Roddy at eroddy@abcwi.org and she’ll be happy to connect you.

  • Job Center of Wisconsin (statewide) – Post jobs, find local career events, and connect with job seekers.
  • Latino Academy of Workforce Development (Madison) – ABC and ABC members have work with LAWD for years. ABC of Wisconsin’s Elizabeth Roddy, currently sits on LAWDs Board of Directors and their Workforce Advisory Council.
  • Social Development Commission of Milwaukee (Milwaukee) – SDC has been running a 12-week Certified Pre-Apprenticeship Program called “Absolute Advantage” for years. ABC works with the Absolute Advantage program by providing NCCER Core Certification accreditation along with participating in events to help students pre-apply to the ABC apprenticeship program.
  • Urban League of Greater Madison (Madison) – The Urban League of Greater Madison has ran their “Foundations for the Trades” program for years, and ABC and ABC members have been involved with them. Foundation for the Trades is a Certified Pre-Apprenticeship program.
  • Forward Service Corporation (Green Bay, Madison, Beloit) – Forward Service Corporation has been running a 180-hour “Highway Construction Skills Training” (HCST) program for years. ABC and ABC members have been working with them.  Although they specialize in highway training, they do have candidates looking to get into other parts of construction as well.
  • Ezekiel Community Development Corporation (Milwaukee) – Ezekiel has a Certified Pre-Apprenticeship Program and has worked with ABC members for years.
  • Operation Fresh Start (Madison) – OFS has been running a variety of construction programs for years. Their recent “Build Academy” is a Certified Pre-Apprenticeship program.
  • Hendricks CareerTek (Beloit) – Hendricks CareerTek works with students grades 6-12 to help young people realize their career potentials and goals. ABC and its members have worked with Hendricks CareerTek for years.
  • Train Skills Management, LLC (Siren) – Train Skills Management is a Certified Pre-Apprenticeship Program that runs a multi-week heavy equipment training class.
  • Hands-On-Training Program (Milwaukee) – Hands-On-Training Program is a Certified Pre-Apprenticeship Program
  • First Choice Pre-Apprenticeship Program (Racine) – First Choice Pre-Apprenticeship is a Certified Pre-Apprenticeship Program that ABC and ABC members have been working with for years.
  • Taylor Transitional Training, Inc. (Milwaukee) – Taylor Transitional Training, Inc. is a Certified Pre-Apprenticeship Program.

*Department of Workforce Development has a special designation called “Certified Pre-Apprenticeship” for programs who go through an approval and review process.  The goal is to connect community programs with Registered Apprenticeship programs.
